Carrie's recent books include 'Woman Up: Pitches, Pay and Periods - The Progress and Potential of Women's Football' (Icon, 2023), shortlisted for the Vikki Orvice Award for Women's Sports Writing at the 2024 Sports Book Awards, and 'Unsuitable for Females: The Rise of the Lionesses and Women's Football in England' (Birlinn, 2022), shortlisted for Football Book of the Year at the 2023 Sports Book Awards.
She is the author of the Lionesses trilogy - 'The Reign of the Lionesses' (Pitch, 2023), 'The Pride of the Lionesses' (Pitch, 2019), longlisted for Football Book of the Year at the 2020 Sports Book Awards and one of FourFourTwo’s best books of the year, a sequel to 'The Roar of the Lionesses: Women's Football in England' (Pitch, 2016), one of the Guardian's best sport books of 2016.

Carrie is a regular voice on radio, where she co-commentates for a variety of stations – and she loves to guest on podcasts and discussion shows, getting into topics in depth, and airing her opinions on news of the day, always grounded in her expertise and research. She has featured on BBC News and reviewed the papers for Sky News, and is a frequent guest on Talk TV.
Research
Carrie has a PhD in sports sociology, focusing on female fans of football in England, and has published widely on women’s football, fandom, and the game’s history.
She uses her wealth of knowledge and her research skills in her volunteer work for Cymru Women's Sport, where she is a member of the advisory board.
